GROUP WORK: PORTUGUESE & CAPOEIRA MATERIALS AND DIARY
Participants will be responsible for covering the cost of CDs and DVDs.
Participants will be asked to keep a diary of their experiences in the classes and in Capoeira in general.
Appropriate clothing and footwear, travel and refreshments will be the sole responsibility of participants in the class.

Nzinga Gr. e Peq.: Benção, Chapa, Armada; Negativa/Esquiva 5. Philosophy of Capoeira de Angola: Nzinga, Axé, Malicia/Malandragem, Capoeira 6. Strength & Strategy Training (Class 4) 7. Review of Classes 1 and 2
GROUP WORK: MUSIC, LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDY (OFICINA DE MUSICA) & MINI RODAS 1
Participants will responsible for accessing the posted literature on the Instituto Palmeiras’ Capoeira Wiki. The Oficina de Música will include an introduction to the various types of Capoeira songs (Ladainha, Saudação, Corrido). Training will be done in Portuguese and Yorubá to better understand the content of Capoeira history, geography and music. Mini Rodas 1 (Class 4) will cover basic musical aspects of Angola Rodas.
Participants are asked to keep a diary of their experiences in the classes and in Capoeira in general.

Introduction to Roda: Entrando e Saindo da Roda 5. A Vergonha do Capoeira 6. Chamadas/Paradas/Volta ao Mundo 7. Preparation for Week 7 and 8
GROUP WORK: MUSIC, LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDY (OFICINA DE MUSICA) & MINI RODAS 2
Participants will responsible for accessing the posted literature on the Instituto Palmeiras’ Capoeira Wiki. The Oficina de Música will involve learning a series of Capoeira corridos, instrument and weapon vocabulary and the discovery of their meanings in the context of the Mini Roda. Training will be done in Portuguese. Mini Rodas 2 will cover basic spatial and temporal aspects of Angola Rodas.
Participants are asked to keep a diary of their experiences in the classes and in Capoeira in general.

Content 1. Stretches<>Axé<>Música 2. Review of Classes 1-6 (Rodas) 3. rough and smooth, tono e textura 4. Trabalho Cego (Class 7) 5. Sharing of experiences in Capoeira 6. Chamadas/Paradas/Volta ao Mundo 7. Preparation for Step Up: Week 9
GROUP WORK: NOVO CAPOEIRA FESTIVAL: OPEN RODAS, CAPOEIRA, MUSIC AND FILM DISPLAYS.
Classes 7 and 8 will occur as usual but with specific emphasis on Capoeira history and contributions from visiting instructors and capoeiristas.
Instituto Palmeiras will indicate and arrange transport and proper clothing for the events. Designed and launched in 2006, the NOVO Music and Film Display will involve projections, music and displays from the Instituto Palmeiras library.
Members of Instituto Palmeiras contribute to the logistical/operational staff of the NOVO Festival. Relevant translation and language training will be provided by BRAVO Language Services Ltd. All related literature will be posted on the Instituto Palmeiras’ Capoeira Wiki.
As usual, participants are asked to keep a diary of their experiences in the classes and in Capoeira in general and will be asked to share from their experiences during the Festival.
