PROJECT 3: CONSUMPTION OF CAPOEIRA ANGOLA, CALINDA AND CARNIVAL

NOVO CAPOEIRA FESTIVAL

Instituto Palmeiras hosted three NOVO_Capoeira Festivals (November 13-20, 2006/2007/2008) featuring films, classes and performances highlighting history and development of Capoeira throughout the world.  

CANVAS Caribbean at Studio Annexe

In 2007, Instituto Palmeiras assisted in organizing, promoting and co-hosting an arts exhibition at visual artist Eddie Bowen’s Studio Annexe in St. Anns, Trinidad and Tobago.  CANVAS is a space for exhibition, critique and exchange among Caribbean contemporary artists.  The group is made up largely of graduates of UWI’s art school and conducts frequent exchanges with artists in Brazil.  This event was one of the first public workshops held by Instituto Palmeiras.
